It is now well established that mental health and physical health problems are closely linked.

People with mental health problems are also more likely to engage in behaviours that increase the risk of poor mental health for example… are more likely to:

  • have poor diets
  • take less exercise
  • smoke heavily
  • be dependent on alcohol

These behaviours increase the risk of illness such as cardiovascular disease.
Those with Long Term Physical Health Conditions such as Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) often suffer from anxiety and depression but less likely to seek help for this.

We have a number of interventions available to help support you if you are suffering from a long term condition. The interventions we have available include 4 – 6 weeks of one-to-one Guided Self Help, an 8 week course in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, or one-to-one Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
